MSABC is pleased to announce new financial support facilities. To learn more about the funds listed below and submit a request, please contact: treasurer@msabc.ca.See "How to Submit a Request" below.
MSABC Programming provides financial assistance to clubs, teams and individuals hosting MSABC-related events or activities, including:
The Officials Development Fund reimburses individuals for costs incurred to attend an officials clinic (or to MSABC clubs to cover the costs associated with hosting an officials clinic). This year, MSABC is prioritizing the development of training opportunities for stroke and turn judges to better support our meets.
The Coaching Development Fund was set up to encourage and support masters coaches. The fund provides reimbursement to the home club/team for new MSABC coaches for costs incurred to complete the training requirements for Masters coaches. Advanced training courses may also be considered for reimbursement. Teams should endeavour to build training costs into their fee structure when possible.
The MSABC Annual Bursary Fund awards up to four needs-based bursaries annually to MSABC swimmers or coaches to help with the costs of attending a championship-level competition such as Provincials, Nationals, Worlds, etc. The bursaries are available via written application or nomination to the MSABC Board of Directors.
The Club Support & Hardship Fund supports clubs facing financial hardship. Access to the grants will be on a one-time basis per club, up to a maximum of $500 per application. Clubs should delineate how they plan to return to financial stability and outline efforts already underway (such as raising fees, applying for local grants, fundraising activities, and building a reserve fund).
To apply for funding, send your request to the Treasurer. The Treasurer will review the request and ask for additional documentation (if needed), before bringing your request to the Board. Be sure to clearly state your club or individual's name and contact information.
For all funding requests, please include your efforts to raise the funds (i.e. viaSport, BC government, and community grants, fundraising activities) or fees you might charge (for clinics). For team shortfalls, explain your efforts to support your team in the future (raise fees, increase membership, host swim meets).
For clinics, your clinic should be open to all MSABC members (not just your club). Every effort should be made to hold clinics that other local MSABC members would be able to attend. Please inform the MSABC Communications Director who can help publicize your clinic.
For coaches, all certifications must be successfully completed before submitting a request. You will be asked to submit proof of completion at a minimum "D" level coach. See our coaching page for more details about coaching options and course requirements. Please note that we do not reimburse the yearly Swim BC Coaching Registration fee.
